ακομα και αν ειχα την λιμνη πατωμενη στο φυτο, περγολες, γεφυρες, κ.λ.π...κ.λ.π παλι θα ειχα την UV στην πριζα......

Εγω παλι αν δεν ειχα αιωρουμενη αλγη δεν θα εβαζα με τιποτα uv . Με τιποταααα ομως !

Kills good nitrifying bacteria that pass by the UV so it must be shut off during spring to allow bacteria to get started and whenever there is a die off of good bacteria.
Kills good insect larvae, tadpoles, fry, daphnia, paramecium, other microorganisms, and whoever gets sucked in. This is the main reason I do not have it since I want all the small animals for a balanced natural pond. Providing good mechanical filtration before the UV prevents the larger of these animals from being zapped.
Decreases oxygen. Initial start up of the UV would result in death of algae that would decompose creating a decrease in oxygen and an increase in hydrogen sulfide.
Promotes growth of attached algae. Without the suspended algae's removal of nitrate, a nitrate spike would result in a fast growth of attached algas like hair algae which could clog filters.
Via death of microorganisms and insects, deprives higher organisms (your fish) of a vital natural food which improves their overall health and breeding.
Costs a lot. UV's cost a lot of money initially ($150 to $500), a lot to run (electricity), and a lot for replacement bulbs.
Opens up pond animals to higher predation rates. The higher visibility of the fish makes them easier targets for predators such as herons and raccoons.
Has little or no effect on decreasing attached algae like green algae and hair algae.
